  Wildlife Monitoring UAV

*WildThing " is the CRI's wildlife monitoring UAV project.  It began in 2012 with an evaluation of the existing technology to implement such a system and by 2014 CRI had flown five different UAV platforms and were in the process of choosing their final platform.  In addition testing had been conducted on the sensor systems for the UAV and selections had been made for FLIR, NIR HD still photography and HD Video.

Test flights are ongoing and we are moving into the data acquisition phase, which will be closely followed followed by developing the processes for data analysis.

When operational the WildThing UAV will revolutionize the monitoring of wildlife populations.

The following video shows the air frames we have tested to date.

Our current test platform is the RVJet from Range Video. It is relatively stable, fairly easy to fly but has a limited payload.
